We’ve seen a recent increase in reports of counterfeit £20 notes being used in the area, particularly during private sales arranged through Facebook Marketplace and local selling groups.

If you’re selling items online and meeting buyers in person, please take a moment to check any cash you’re handed before completing the sale. Key things to look for include:

💷 Holograms and colour‑changing features
💷 Raised print on the note
💷 A clear, sharp portrait of the King
💷 The see‑through window and metallic image

If something feels “off” or rushed, trust your instincts. You can also consider using bank transfers or secure payment methods instead of cash.
